Description: Boden Core Router Migration, decommissioning legacy Juniper MX204 core routers and cutting over to new Arista 7280 core routers. Migration covers both ISP circuits, production fabric BGP peerings (IPv4/IPv6) to service leaves, and management gateway BGP peerings. Boden site also includes Nautobot services and customer VPN services. Driven by network device upgrade and modernization.
Implementation plan: Phased migration from legacy Juniper MX204 to new Arista 7280 core routers. ISP circuits and fabric BGP peerings (IPv4/IPv6) are cut over in stages, with pre-checks, mid-migration verification, and post-checks performed at each stage before proceeding.
Backout plan: If an issue is identified during a migration phase, revert the affected ISP circuit or BGP session back to the legacy Juniper MX204 router, which remains in place until the full migration is verified.
Test plan: Verify production connectivity and BGP peering status (IPv4/IPv6) on the new routers, confirm no system or environmental issues, and have customers validate connectivity to their servers post-migration.
Customer impact: Customers may experience brief upstream connectivity interruptions during individual cut-over phases. No impact is expected outside of these short windows.
